SPIN-IN in the transportation and logistics industry

Are you a student or a recent graduate from SDU and EASV interested in solving a concrete challenge within digitization and/or sustainability, you now have the opportunity to help companies solve their challenges and seize opportunities.

Digitization and sustainability are transforming the transportation and logistics industry (T&L). T&L companies are facing a wave of disruption ignited by emerging technologies, customer expectations and new competitors. They struggle to adapt their business model and often need help to start their journey or push forward existing plans.

You can help these companies solve their challenges and seize opportunities.

In SPIN-IN, companies put forward a well-formulated challenge within digitization and/ or sustainability, and they welcome a dedicated, interdisciplinary team of 3-5 international students and graduates from SDU and Erhvervsakademi Sydvest (EASV) to become a part of their organization for a short period of time to help them solve their challenge and provide recommendation for the future.

Who can apply?

If you are a student or a recent graduate from SDU and EASV interested in solving a concrete challenge within digitization and/ or sustainability, you can apply. The teams need a range of different knowledge/ skills – from design, technology, IT, economics, innovation, business, communication etc.

Why should you apply?

You get the opportunity to use your skills to create a concrete solution for a company. Digitization and sustainability are hot topics in several industries, and you gain firsthand insight. You broaden your network and achieve valuable experience for your CV and a potential recommendation from the company. You meet students and graduates from other fields of studies. And finally - it is great fun!

How does it work?

The teams of 3-5 Danish and international students/ graduates work in either short sprints or long sprints with the company challenge:

  • In the short sprints, the teams work at the company with the challenge for 4 days in august 2022 (week 35)
  • In the long sprints, the teams work with the challenge online/ at home for 4 weeks in August and September 2022. The teams meet with their company 4 times, 2 times at the company

The team meet for the first time on the kick-off day. Throughout the SPIN-IN, the teams are guided by a mentor from SDU or EASV. On the last day of the sprint, the teams pitch their solution and recommendations in front of the companies and their stakeholders. The companies are responsible for covering the teams’ travel costs, meals, and accommodation if necessary.

Who are the companies and their challenges?

The companies are small and medium sized companies in the transportation and logistics industry located in Denmark – e.g., freight forwarders, trucking companies, airports, airlines, harbors, or shipping companies.

The challenges will be made public for students and graduates accepted in the project by the end of June. Students and graduates will be asked to choose between the challenges. The students and graduates are matched by EASV and SDU according to their skills, wishes, and the challenges.
