Work Retreath for the PhD school at HUM, SDU

 Aim of the course

The aim of the course is for the PhD students at HUM, SDU to present and work on specific research products. This trains the skills of forming and presenting an argument, orally or in writing, and developing it in collaboration with peers by giving and receiving feedback. The research product can be a conference paper draft that the participant wants to try out, or a research article/thesis chapter draft that the participant wants feedback on.

Taking time to incorporate feedback in one’s work is sometimes hard in a busy schedule. The course gives the participants the opportunity of working with their arguments in calm surroundings, immediately after receiving feedback from their peers.

The course offers no methodological or theoretical framework for the feedback sessions. The discussions will be formed by the PhD students’ different scholarly fields and traditions, hopefully offering various complementary perspectives on the research products. Even though the participants’ research fields vary, they are much in the same place in their careers. The discussions may therefore benefit from sharing experiences and working processes with forming and presenting arguments.

Two tracks to choose between when signing up
