About SDU

In June 2021, the political agreement "more and better educational opportunities throughout the country" was entered into with a political desire to offer more educational opportunities outside the country's largest cities. With the agreement, SDU has been asked to prepare an institutional plan that reduces up to 10% of the study places from Odense until 2030, either by moving the study places to other cities or by removing them completely.

For almost 25 years, SDU has built up a broad, geographical presence, and SDU wants to continue to offer high-quality regional research-based education, as it provides the greatest value for students, staff and the surrounding community. SDU knows how to run campuses outside the big cities with good cooperation with local actors, but this should not happen at the expense of a reduction in study places in Odense.

On this page you can get an overview of SDU's position as a regional university, just as all communication about regionalization is here.
