SDU’s efforts towards equality, diversity and inclusion are continuous and deliberate initiatives rooted in evidence-based research in order to strive to be an organisation free of sexism and all other types of harassment and discrimination, including based on race, ethnicity, sexual orientation, gender identity, ability, socio-economic background, religion, age, etc.
SDU's Gender Equality Team works on systemic changes at SDU in close collaboration with individual faculties and units, including SDU’s central Gender Equality committee, and the equality committees at the faculties and the central administration.
Key areas include recruitment, onboarding and retention; (intersectional) Gender Dimension in Research (iGDiR); equal and inclusive working and study environments; awareness raising addressing everyday discrimination and harassment; creation and monitoring of SDUs gender disaggregated database, Gender Statistics, amongst other things.
Additionally, the head of the GET , Liv Baisner Petersen, has both co-founded and currently chairs the network for equality, diversity and inclusion practitioners at Danish Universities, IDEA:DK. GETalso has an active and productive collaboration with the Danish Ministry of Higher Education and Science and Liv is currently the alternate representative in the ERA Action subgroup 5 under the European Commission.
