The purpose of Ph.d.-K at SDU is to be a coordinating and supporting forum for the RI Council. In the RI Council, the overall and strategic issues concerning the Ph.D. area at SDU are handled, and in accordance with this, Ph.d.-K organizes the academic development, administrative processing, and learning across the Ph.D. schools.
Tasks
Ph.d.-K contributes to and addresses issues from the RI Council. Ph.d.-K should generally be able to address questions posed to the RI Council, for example, in connection with suddenly arising matters of importance to the entire SDU. The tasks of Ph.d.-K are:
- Raise issues in the RI Council
- Address questions posed by the RI Council
- Coordinate to ensure and optimize the academic quality, diversity, and interdisciplinarity in the Ph.D. programs
- Administrative coordination and learning across the Ph.D. schools (experience network – practice - exchange of experiences)
Ph.d.-K is also a forum for exchanging ideas and experiences to implement good practices across the Ph.D. schools. Examples of topics for planning and addressing in Ph.d.-K can be:
- National and international cooperation regarding Ph.D. programs, including joint & dual degrees
- Cooperation regarding evaluations, including international evaluations of the Ph.D. schools
- Internationalization of the Ph.D. education area
- Supervisor training
- Interfaculty generic Ph.D. courses
- Talent development
- Common statistics and key figures
Composition of Members
The members of the Ph.d.-K Committee consist of a chairman appointed by the RI Council, the five faculty Ph.D. school leaders, five administrative Ph.D. coordinators – one from each faculty, a representative from the SDU Library, and 2 Ph.D. students – one from the dry and one from the wet areas.
