Varied and exciting work tasks with a lot of responsibility

Meet Jan Bach Andersen, lawyer at SDU RIO.

- As a lawyer, I help universities and hospitals in Southern Denmark and Zealand by drawing up contracts and providing advice when starting research projects. In this way, I help to ensure our researchers' rights in terms of being able to publish results and disseminate the new knowledge. And most importantly, patients are given certainty if new types of medicine or treatments are to be tested.

- There are three main reasons why I chose to return to SDU in 2023 after a period in the private sector: There are exciting, varied tasks, a lot of responsibility and good colleagues.

Professionalism is needed and appreciated

- I have experienced that you are given responsibility from the start. Of course, there is thorough training and good support, but it doesn't take long before you are involved in the tasks on an equal footing with your colleagues.

- I have a good working relationship with the researchers, who are primarily healthcare staff. We have a professionally strong and efficient case management, and the researchers realise that we are not bothering them, but are actually a necessity for their research and patient safety.

Great opportunities for customisation and specialisation

- In my team, we're in a great space with a great atmosphere. In general, we all like the workplace, where there is a lot of flexibility and the opportunity to organise your working day and content.

- There are plenty of opportunities for customisation and specialisation, and I like the fact that you don't sit and do the same task every day.

- At SDU, I get a unique insight into the research sector, which is professionally exciting and meaningful to work in because we support the creation of new research.
