  Do you want to do sports or other activites in your spare time?

  You will basically be able to find a club for anything in Denmark, and the life definitely goes around the clubs. Most clubs are running on a volunteer basis. And it is a great way to meet Danes and to get a social life.

  Especially kids attend a variety of sports in the afternoon, and this is where they meet friends outside of school. So it is a very good idea to sign your kids up for some afternoon activities that they like and enjoy.

• SDU International Club

  The SDU International Club´s initiatives/activities are also for spouses/partners so please feel free to join us. Each month we arrange a number of social and cultural activities such as:

  • Family activities
  • Culture workshops
  • Going to the cinema for a movie night
  • Trips around the countryside (in all parts of Denmark)
  • Yoga and other sports activities

• Emergency and help

  Call 112:

  • in case of an accident, fire, or a serious crime
  • if lives, property, or the environment are in acute danger
  • if there is a need for immediate police assistance, an ambulance, the fire brigade or environmental action

  Staff at the emergency call centre will as a rule ask you:

  • What has happened – where and when?
  • Which phone number are you calling from?
  • How many people are injured?

  Call 114 if you:

  • want to report a crime where there is no need for immediate police assistance
  • have information for the police about the commitment of a crime
  • need information or guidance about permissions issued by the police

• Cost of living

  The standard costs of living in Denmark is high and the economy performs above the European average. Accommodation, food and transport are therefore relatively expensive in Denmark compared to other countries. However salaries and PhD stipends are correspondingly high, and services such as medical treatment are free of charge.

  Odense is as a main rule cheaper to live in than Copenhagen, but Odense is more expensive than Kolding, Esbjerg and Sønderborg.

• Transportation

  Biking

  The municipality of Odense has invested heavily in its cycling infrastructure and it shows. The easiest way to get around town is on a bike and for the majority of families, biking is their main mode of transportation.

  Public transport

  Fynbus can help you get around in Odense and the surrounding areas.
