EWG-MCDA

The EWG-MCDA is a working group whose aim is to promote original research in the field of multicriteria decision aiding at a European level. The EWG-MCDA is one of the working groups of EURO, the European Association of Operational Research Societies. It counts almost 350 members coming from 38 countries. Bernard Roy founded the working group in 1975 during the 1st European Conference on Operational Research (EURO I), in Brussels, Belgium.
 

The EWG-MCDA’s aims are the following:

  • Help develop, at European level, an original thought in the field of multicriteria decision aiding;
  • Enable each member of the group to present to others, methodologies, theoretical and applied results and to submit his/her own work and thoughts to the critical discussion of the group, and also to promote collaboration;
     
  • Develop the using of multicriteria decisions aiding by facilitating contacts between all persons interested in the subject, and stimulating continuous and progressing works;
     
  • Keep the group alive and open through bi-annual meetings, which should not be mini-conferences, but real meetings favorable to discussions and the emergence of new ideas.

 
Since 1975, the Working Group has always met twice a year.
