The Department of Economics

About us

The Department of Economics is home to a highly competent and ambitious group of researchers who explore cutting-edge topics within Economics and Data Science. We recruit Danish and international colleagues to ensure internationally competitive education programmes and research output at a high international level.

Our research

Our researchers publish in internationally recognised journals and attract excellence grants. We cultivate a strong research environment through international and interdisciplinary collaborations, seminars, workshops and conferences. We host leading international scholars as part of our guest programmes.

Through our study programmes in economics and mathematical economics, we train the next generation of economists. We follow a research-based teaching approach to guarantee that our students are exposed to the latest trends and findings.

Making people aware of our results and of how they are relevant to the public is one of our goals. We disseminate our research and provide research-based commentary to the general public through Danish and international outlets, including newspapers, television and social media.

We have organised ourselves into four research platforms: Econometrics and Data science, Economic History, Macroeconomics and Microeconomics.

We also host the Historical Economics and Development Group (HEDG) and the country team for the international Survey of Health, Ageing and Retirement in Europe (SHARE).

The Department of Economics is part of the Faculty of Business and Social Sciences. We work in close collaboration with the SDU Business School, contributing with core economic topics in the Business Economics programme.

Please do not hesitate to contact us if you are interested in collaborating with us.
