Group Core Focus

The Additive Manufacturing Group at SDU develops cutting-edge 3D-printed functional materials, advanced AM technologies, and integrated mechatronic systems to enable next-generation engineering solutions. Our work spans the full additive manufacturing value chain—from printing conductive, polymer, and metal materials to optimizing thermoplastic, resin, and metal printing processes with high precision. We combine structural and multiphysics simulation, topology and lattice optimization, and design-for-AM methodologies to create high-performance components such as optimized heat exchangers, cooling structures, and hybrid systems with embedded sensors and actuators. Through close collaboration between materials science, mechanical design, and mechatronics, the group delivers innovative prototypes and advanced manufacturing solutions that push the boundaries of performance, functionality, and integration in modern engineered systems.
