This PhD course engages with an emerging research paradigm of action, where researchers are themselves practitioners of innovative and entrepreneurial activities in various institutional and organizational contexts. The general research approach based in action requires active participation by the researcher and may include mobilization of multiple actors and resources for solving a problem, conducting experiments outside the lab in the field and for initiating changes by acting on entrepreneurial opportunities to develop incremental or radical innovations in organizational practices, services, processes, markets or products.

The PhD course offers an introduction to this general premise of action as a research approach to Innovation and Entrepreneurship and is suitable for both advanced leaners and newcomers to the field. The course will cover implications of the action approach in terms of research design, theory and methodology. A selection of traditional and new theories of innovation and entrepreneurship are related to the action-based research approach in course lectures. Students are to hold presentations addressing theoretical and methodological points of interest in their research where an action-based approach is possible, planned or completed.

We are also very happy if senior members of staff wish to attend, particularly PhD supervisors, and will accommodate them in lieu of space. We ask all who attend an event to register.
