During your studies you learn to apply knowledge of chemistry and research results in practice in industry.

It takes three and a half years to become bachelor of chemical engineering. The programme content is varied and consists of project work, lessons presentation of reports and lectures. This way theory is combined with practical exercises giving you a broad understanding of chemical engineering and at the same time you develop your communication skills, cooperation skills and creativity.

The structure of the programme

Every semester has a main theme around which the semester’s project work revolves.

The first four semesters of the programme are the same for all bachelor of engineering and bachelor of science in engineering students in chemical engineering and chemistry and in these semesters you will achieve basic knowledge of what it entails to work as a chemical engineer. 

In the final semesters you play an active role in piecing together your study by choosing a number of electives, projects and your internship.

Project work and solving problems for companies

You become part of a project based and problem based study environment where you work in project groups together with your fellow students. 

In the project group you and your fellow students:

  • are responsible for planning and carrying out the project
  • will cooperate and meet the deadlines
  • will solve problems for companies
  • will have access to project room

Internship and final project

In the sixth semester you must complete the engineering internship in a company in Denmark or abroad. Through the internship you acquire relevant work experience of great benefit to you in your following career. In the final semester you carry out the final project – usually also in cooperation with a company.

Versatile career paths

With this degree you will have a range of job opportunities – in Denmark and abroad. Among other things, you could work as project manager, development engineer or consultant in the chemical industry, medical industry or public environmental administration. 

As graduate engineer in chemical engineering you still have the opportunity to study for the two-year master degree in chemistry
