Confocal Microscopy

Confocal

Among the advantages of confocal microscopy over conventional widefield optical microscopy are:

  • the ability to control depth of field
  • elimination or reduction of background information away from the focal plane (that leads to image degradation)
  • the capability to collect serial optical sections from thick specimens.

With ease you can obtain extremely high-quality images from specimens prepared for conventional fluorescence microscopy and the growing number of applications in cell biology that rely on imaging both fixed and living cells and tissues.

In fact, confocal technology is proving to be one of the most important advances ever achieved in optical microscopy.

The Core Facility offer state-of-the-art optical and in vivo imaging

Our aim is to provide the best possible services and highest quality equipment to researchers at SDU, OUH and non-University researchers.

We are pleased to welcome all users of any level of experience.
