Serguei Chiriaev

Serguei Chiriaev is an Associate Professor in Technology and Innovation at Mads Clausen Institute (MCI), University of Southern Denmark. He represents technology  and the natural science segment of the Innovation Research Cluster Alsion (IRCA). Before joining MCI, Serguei Chiriaev worked as a material scientist at the Belorussian State University (Minsk), Aarhus University (Denmark) and Max-Plank Institute for Microstructure Physics (Halle, Germany). In 1998 he joined Danfoss A/S in Nordborg (Denmark) where he spent 16 years working as a consultant and development specialist at Micro-Technology Group, Danfoss Technology Centre and at the Industrial Automation division. He has got his PhD degree from Belorussian Academy of Science, and successfully completed the Entrepreneurship Development Program at SLOAN School of Management at Massachusetts Institute of Technology.

Serguei Chiriaev has a long-standing experience in both academic and industrial research in the fields of micro- and nano-electronic materials, microfluidics and sensor technology. His current interests are within the material science and technology innovation, networking with industry and the cross-border R&D projects. 

The major reseach-focus is laid on:

  • Applications of Zeiss Orion NanoFab/He-ion microscope in fabrication and imagine of advanced nano-systems
  • Failure analysis of power-electronic and optoelectronic devices and sensors
  • Nano-tomography of biomedical samples
