I want to study in same programme I did before
How to apply, depends on how much of the programme you have already passed.
- I have passed all courses in the first year of the programme
- There are courses in the first year that I haven't passed
Unsure whether you have passed the first year?
Maybe you don't know for sure whether you have passed the first year of studies. This might for instance be the case if the programme has changed since you were enroled. If in doubt, it is always best to apply for both re-admission (via new admission to the same programme) and for 're-enrolment' - check both of the links above for more information.

I have discontinued one study programme - now I wish to start in another
You have to apply for regular admission to the new programme you wish to start in.
If you are admitted to the new programme, you are obliged to apply for starting credits immediately after admission. When you apply for starting credits, the study board of your new programme decides whether courses in the new programme can be substituted by courses you have already passed.
You will receive more info if you are accepted for the programme.

I am currently enroled in a programme - now I wish to switch to another
If you wish to change from one programme to another, as a general rule you will have to apply for regular admission to the new programme - in the same manner as when you started in your current programme. If you are admitted to the new programme, you are obliged to apply for starting credits immediately after admission
Do your current courses match the first year of studies?
If you expect to achieve a credit transfer covering the entire first year of studies in the new programme, you have to apply for a change of programmes rather than regular admission. This is especially relevant if you are switching between programmes where the first year of studies are identical.
How to apply for a change of programmes
Before you apply, we advice you to compare the structure of you current programme with that of the new programme. If you are uncertain whether courses from your current programme will cover the entire first year, it is a good idea to apply for regular admission as well as a change of programme - this will optimize your chances.
Switching between profiles in the same programme
If you wish to switch between profiles or branches within the samme programme, you have to forward an application to the Study Board of your programme.

I want to transfer to SDU from another university
If you are a student at another Danish university, but wish to continue your studies at SDU, as a general rule, you have to apply for re-enrolment– even if you have not interrupted your current educational programme.
New admission to the same programme
Expecting a credit transfer covering the first year of studies?
You have to apply for a 'transfer' if you expect to achieve a credit transfer covering the entire first year of studies. Please note that the content and structure of your current programme is not necessarily the same as that of the programme at SDU. Therefore, we advice you to read more about the specific programme and its structure before applying.
Maybe you don’t know for sure whether you have passed first year of studies. If in doubt, it is always best to apply for both re-enrolment and transfer.
Studying outside of Denmark?
If you are a student in another country, you have to apply for new admission, no matter how close your current programme matches the programme at University of Southern Denmark. If you are admitted, subsequently you have to apply for a credit transfer.
