In the nomination of candidates, emphasis may be placed on particular academic, pedagogical or didactic qualifications. Emphasis may also be placed on more personal qualities, such as the nominated candidate being inspiring, welcoming, academically challenging, accommodating, dialogue-oriented, stimulating or similar in his/her teaching.
A Teaching Prize has been awarded for each of the university's five faculties since 2005. In 2017, this was combined into a joint Teaching Prize for the entire SDU.
