Finding better policies to help children with special needs thrive in the school and beyond
Special education is a common educational policy worldwide, which aims to improve the outcomes of children with special needs. In Denmark, a recent national report shows that children from special education have far worse socioeconomic outcomes ten years after graduation compared to children from general education. These findings could significantly influence future educational policies for children with special needs. This project will run in collaboration with Odense Kommune (Børn- og Ungeforvaltningen). Based on cutting-edge causal methods, we will investigate how placement in special education and alternative educational settings affects children with special needs in both the short and long term.
