PhD

With research groups in fields such as the Management and Economics of Natural Resources and the Environment, Rural and Cultural Sociology, and Markets, Organisation and Behaviour, the Department of Environmental and Business Economics provides an excellent environment for PhD studies.

Both Danish and foreign PhD students complete a three-year research programme at the Department and contribute to the University’s teaching and project work. The Department has its own research programme within the FAME research network (read more here). All PhD students are enrolled in the PhD School in the Faculty of Business and Social Sciences.

As a PhD student at the Department, you will be part of a well-functioning, integrated and multi-disciplinary research environment, which means that you will have the opportunity to work with all of the Department’s researchers (in addition to your principal supervisor). The Department is also involved in many external projects that you can take part in and thereby build a strong international network.

There are three ways to become a PhD student:

  • You can apply for advertised positions in SDU’s job bank, where the Department regularly advertises vacant PhD positions. Click here to see if we have any vacant positions at the moment. You can also find general information about SDU’s social science PhD School and its many benefits.
  • You can combine research and practical experience in an industrial PhD programme in which you are both affiliated with a research environment at the University and employed by a private or public organisation. Read more about the industrial PhD scheme at SDU here.
  • You can choose to fund your PhD yourself. You can find more information on enrolment and employment at the PhD School in the Faculty of Business and Social Sciences here.
