Municipal strategic village planning

PhD project

About the project

In 2019, municipalities were obliged to carry out strategic planning of villages. This can potentially be a useful tool for the future development of villages.

However, there are many ways to approach this planning, especially in terms of the extent and nature of citizen involvement.

The PhD project identifies and analyzes the experiences to date with strategic village planning and citizen involvement in municipalities. The results will form the basis for developing and testing new approaches to strategic village planning.

The project will thus help equip municipalities to take on the obligation of strategic village planning and provide them with concrete methods to carry out the task - and thereby support a more forward-looking sustainable development of viable villages.

The target group

The target group for the results of the initiative is primarily stakeholders in municipalities and local councils working with strategic village planning.

These target groups are continuously involved in the project to ensure effective experience gathering and knowledge sharing throughout the work.
