Banke: Without SDU we hardly dared tackle development of power electronics

Before the summer holidays, researchers from Centre for Industrial Mechanics (CIM) visited Banke ApS, suppliers of solutions for electrifying heavy-duty vehicles. In honour of the occasion, the team of researchers were accompanied by researchers from their sister organisation Centre for Industrial Electronics (CIE). It became a fruitful encounter for both the enterprise located in the small Sønderborg village Ormstoft and for the SDU delegation.

- It looks promising!

This was the concluding remark of CEO and founder of Banke ApS, Mr. Rasmus Banke, after the visit. He gave his visitors a tour in the production facilities which provided inspiration for sparring and technical dialogues.

- There were many well-known faces among the skilled researchers and teachers with whom we have had a close and fruitful collaboration during the past 10 years. But there was also new potential among the visitors, and we got a profound knowledge of new exciting initiatives at SDU in general, and not least at CIE and CIM. Possibilities have never been better!

Rasmus Banke adds that the direction chosen at SDU will have an impact on the company’s future choice.

- We hardly dared tackle development of power electronics without the SDU collaboration. Now, we are officially taking the plunge. We can buy ourselves access to laboratories otherwise out of reach, and we can enter long-lasting collaborative relations on product development.

Small and medium-sized enterprises as Banke ApS rarely have capacity nor money for technological development. Therefore, the collaboration with SDU or other universities is valuable for SMEs. Innovation Consultant Frederik Gottlieb from SDU says:

-  At SDU Sønderborg we bridge the gap between state-of-the-art research and the needs of industry. In this context, we have established the concept of ’CIM on tur’ where we visit a local enterprise every other Friday to ”kick the tyres” and hear about technical challenges of the enterprise and establish collaboration that might involve a semester project, an internship or even a large joint research project.

If you want to have a visit by the researchers from CIM, please find further information on SDU Sønderborg’s website on industrial collaboration. Here, you can also contact Frederic Gottlieb to set up an appointment.
