The advisory board for cand.merc.int and B.Cs.

Background

The cross-border courses of study currently consist of a BSc and MSc programme with an emphasis on the social sciences (e.g. Business and Economics, Marketing and HR). The programmes are also characterised by an international study environment with language and communication components in German, Danish and English. The weighting is approx. 75% Social Science/Business Economics subjects and approx. 25% language and communication subjects.
The BSc programme is a collaboration between the University of Southern Denmark (SDU) and Europa-Universität Flensburg (EUF), and teaching takes place at SDU’s Alsion campus, Sønderborg and at EUF’s campus, Flensburg. This cross-border and international co-operation is also reflected in the diploma: Graduates receive both a Danish BSc degree and a German BA degree (‘double diploma’).
Master’s degree programme, MSc in  Business, Language and Culture  is a pure SDU programme, but there is also a close collaboration with EUF, which offers a parallel MSc programme in International Management Studies. Students have the option to take courses at both universities and obtain a ‘double diploma’ – an option most students take advantage of.

The advisory board serves as a forum for dialogue for the above-mentioned programmes at the University of Southern Denmark and can discuss any issues that contribute to promoting good collaboration between the programme and the surrounding society.

Among other things, the advisory board discusses

  • the quality and relevance of the programme for society, locally and internationally
  • development of the programmes, including continuous revision of existing course descriptions and examination types
  • the need for new skills and the development of new courses
  • job areas and scopes of tasks for graduates of the programme and the development of new job areas
  • development of new teaching methods that engage with the world around us
  • collaboration between the programme and employers on projects, internships, theses, etc. for the duration of study
  • targeted marketing of the programmes and the graduates of the programmes
  • the specific advantages and challenges of the cross-border education and labour market

The advisory board covers the following programmes: BSc in International Business Administration and Foreign Languages and MSc in Business, Language and Culture.
The advisory board consists of approx. 15 employer representatives/alumni, 3 academic staff and 1 student. The advisory board can be supplemented with new members as needed.
