The growing complexity of digital tools requires educators, as well as researchers, to develop the critical competencies needed to understand and govern automated decision-making processes, such as these found in AI services. Explainable Artificial Intelligence (XAI) emerges as a pedagogical tool that can promote transparency, awareness and trust in interactions with AI. This workshop introduces the concept of XAI from a pedagogical perspective to promote critical AI literacy and pedagogical reflection in higher education. Participants will explore how the XAI approach can be used to design and implement AI systems responsibly, focusing on transparency, trust, and ethics.
