Drones and Defence: What Security and Military Professionals Demand, and What It Means for Industry

Project objective

The project will build an overview of drone trends on the European security and military markets. Its findings will be important to the Danish defence industry as part of the European industry. The overview will give the industry insight into major market opportunities, and provide the Defence Ministry with insight into national plans for drones (the 2018 defence agreement specifically refers to a "drone force" for a new army brigade, a joint, unmanned airborne system based in Aalborg and a presence at the UAS test centre in Odense).

Project results

The project will provide insight into European drone demand for security and military purposes, and outline specific consequences with regard to the European market and international regulatory system. The project creates value by the involvement of the Danish Ministry of Defence and Forsvarets industriorganisation (Danish Defence's industrial organisation).

Success will be a defence-funded initiative, partnership with the ministry for long-term research into drones, and research-related publications related to coordination for small and medium-sized states within the EU, along with the EU's new legislative framework.
