Professor Emeritus David E. Nye (Ph.D. Minnesota) founded the Center for American Studies at SDU in 1992. For many years he also served on the board of the Danish-American Fulbright Commission. His more than 225 publications include 10 books with The MIT Press, with two more on the way – Conflicted American Landscapes (2020) and Sublimes (2021). He has been a guest professor at Harvard, MIT, Cambridge, Warwick, Leeds, and the Netherlands Institute of Advanced Study. His awards include the Leonardo da Vinci Medal (2005), the highest award of the Society for the History of Technology and a knighthood conferred by the Danish Queen. He is a by-fellow of Churchill College, Cambridge and a Senior Research Fellow at the Charles Babbage Institute, University of Minnesota.
