Simulating the Strong Force: How Computer Simulations Reveal Extreme Matter

Speaker: Benjamin Jâger
Quantum Field Theory Center & Danish IAS, Department of Mathematics and Computer Science

Abstract: In this talk, we delve into how advanced computer simulations allow us to study matter under the most extreme conditions. By employing a technique known as Lattice QCD, we can model the interactions of quarks and gluons—the fundamental building blocks of matter. These simulations enable us to explore environments where temperatures and pressures reach astronomical levels, shedding light on the physics of the early universe as well as the complex inner workings of dense stars and other exotic systems.
