Lin Lin is an Assistant Professor at the Department of Biochemistry and Molecular Biology at the University of Southern Denmark since Dec 2022. Lin obtained her PhD in prokaryotic cell biology from Max Planck Institute for terrestrial microbiology / The Philipps University of Marburg in Germany, followed by a short postdoc there. She then moved to Biozentrum at University of Basel, Switzerland as a postdoctoral researcher working on bacterial type VI secretion system that can be important for interbacterial competition as well as virulence. Lin’s lab is focusing on studying (1) molecular mechanisms and dynamics behind how Acinetobacter spp. including ESKAPE pathogen Acinetobacter baumannii respond in multispecies bacteria communities under different conditions in single-cell level; (2) elucidating mechanisms and dynamics how A. baumannii uses their virulence factors for infection in single cell level. The group uses a combination of molecular microbiology, -Omics and high-resolution live-cell imaging. The long-term goal is to understand how interspecies interaction shapes the co-infection and if it alters the infection dynamics in the host, as well as the mechanistic details of how A. baumannii uses virulence factors.
