Camilla Dalby Hansen is doing a PhD investigating focusing on the role of the diet in non-alcoholic fatty liver disease (NAFLD). 30% of the population worldwide suffer from NAFLD. Only exercise and weight loss is proven to help, but it is often difficult to achieve and maintain a new lifestyle, which is why new treatment options are needed. It is known that the composition of the intestinal flora plays a role in liver diseases. Camilla Dalby Hansen wants to explore the impact of different diet compositions, on the intestinal flora and on the liver. Her goal is to figure out which diet to recommend people who suffer from non-alcoholic fatty liver disease. Furthermore Camilla Dalby Hansen is very interested in exploring the different mechanisms that impact the development of NAFLD, and thereby expand the knowledge in this field.
