Research interests
Cardiovascular disease remains the leading cause of mortality worldwide. The primary interest of our group is to understand the molecular and cellular underpinnings of artery disease, i.e., atherosclerosis and aortic aneurysms.

Our research is based on investigations of genetically modified mice and analyses of patient samples obtained from hospitals of the Southern Region of Denmark. We believe that this translational approach is key to uncover knowledge that will ultimately stimulate development of new treatment strategies.

Key methods
Mouse models of vascular disease.
Investigations of patient material.
Recombinant adeno-associated virus (rAAV)-mediated gene delivery in rodents.
DNA cloning.
Proteomics (immunohistology, western blotting, ELISA, mass spectrometry).
Transcriptomics (quantitative PCR, RNAseq).
Biochemical assays.
Cell culture and functional in vitro assays.
