Fækal mikrobiotatransplantation (FMT)

Klinisk Immunologisk Afdeling, OUH fremstiller og distribuerer fækal mikrobiotatransplantationsprodukter til kliniske afdelinger på samtlige hospitaler i Region Syddanmark. Disse produkter benyttes på daglig basis til rutinebehandling af patienter med tilbagevendende Clostridioides difficile -infektioner (CDI). Forskning indenfor FMT omfatter vurdering og optimering af dens kliniske anvendelse hos patienter med CDI samt undersøgelse af dens kliniske værdi i forbindelse med andre tilstande, med fokus på immundrevne sygdomme som bl.a. gigt og inflammatoriske tarmsygdomme. Vi samarbejder med kliniske afdelinger i Region Syddanmark og med både lokale, nationale og internationale laboratorier, for at evaluere indholdet af FMT-produktet og FMT’s virkningsmekanisme ved hjælp af både immunologiske analyser, kulturomiske metoder, metagenomik og metabolomik.

Igangværende projekter

FRONT trial – a 52-week superiority RCT evaluating safety and efficacy of multiple capsule FMTs in immune-mediated arthritis and inflammatory bowel disease. Principal investigators: Maja Skov Kragsnæs and Torkell Ellingsen.

FLORA trial – exploration of clinical predictors and effect-modifiers of FMT in patients with moderate to severe psoriatic arthritis. Principal investigators: Maja Skov Kragsnæs and Torkell Ellingsen.

FMT-AUD – a 12-week superiority RCT evaluating safety and efficacy of one FMT in patients with uncomplicated diverticulitis. Principal investigators: Camilla Thorndahl Nielsen and Thomas Bjørsum-Meyer.

FMT culturomics – Impact of storage conditions on live bacteria in faecal microbiota transplantation products using culturomics. Principal investigators: Katrine Agerbo Hovmand, Ulrik Stenz Justesen, and Maja Skov Kragsnæs.
