Odense is located in the heart of Denmark, and easily reached by either rail, road or air from most points in Europe.
For those traveling by air, the most convenient option will typically be Copenhagen Airport. However, depending on your departure location, Billund Airport (located in Jutland) may offer cheaper flights. Both airports take roughly the same amount of time to arrive in Odense. For those traveling by train, the destination should be Odense Station.
Arriving at Copenhagen Airport
From Copenhagen Airport, you can catch a train from the airport terminal directly to Odense Station (some trains may require a transfer at Copenhagen Central Station), with a travel time between 1.5 and 2 hours. You can purchase tickets from the machines in the airport terminal, or by using the DSB app on your phone. If using the app, you should purchase a ticket from CPH Lufthavn to Odense St. Please note that, in Denmark, train tickets do not automatically include seat reservations. Depending on the time of day, trains may be crowded so it is recommended to add the additional seat reservation, which costs 30 DKK.
Arriving at Billund Airport
From Billund Airport, you can catch bus #43 from the airport to Vejle Trafikcenter, then transfer to a train from Vejle to Odense St. The travel time is approx. 1.5 hours. Bus tickets can be purchased from the Rejsekort machine at the exit of the airport terminal (tickets can be purchased on the bus with cash only) and train tickets can be purchased at the station in Vejle. Alternatively, you can use the DSB app on your phone to purchase a ticket from Billund Lufthavn/Billund Airport to Odense St., which will work on both the bus and train.
