Why choose Software Engineering?
Software is the digital infrastructure that makes modern society work. This applies to everything from apps and intelligent systems to large software solutions in healthcare, industry, the energy sector and the public sector.
On the BSc in Engineering in Software Engineering, you learn to develop software that suits the people and organisations who will use it. You work with the entire process from needs analysis and idea development to design, programming, testing, implementation and further development.
The programme in Sønderborg takes place in an international study environment and has close links to companies. You work on projects and gain competences that are in demand in a labour market where software plays an increasingly important role.
Software Engineering is for you if you…
- want to develop software, apps and digital systems that can be used in practice
- are curious about how technology can solve problems for people, companies and society
- want to work with programming, software architecture, cyber security and intelligent systems
- want to collaborate with others and develop software in an international context
What will you learn?
On the programme, you learn to develop software from scratch and further develop existing solutions. You learn to investigate the need for the software, describe and analyse requirements, design solutions, programme and test the software so that it works for users.
You work with software programming, software systems, distributed systems, embedded devices, intelligent component-based systems, software architecture and cyber security. You also gain competences to lead the development and implementation of software and to collaborate across disciplines and cultures.
You do not need to know how to programme in advance. The programme includes an introductory course in programming, and new students are not expected to have prior programming experience.
Teaching methods
The programme combines theoretical courses and practical project work. Each semester has a main theme that links teaching and project work.
You work in project groups and test your competences on company cases and in collaboration with industry. In the fifth semester, you can specialise through electives or study abroad, and in the sixth semester you write your Bachelor’s project.
