Required documentation

You upload your documentation via the Danish application system, optagelse.dk when you apply. After submitting your application, you may need to upload additional or updated documents to your application via optagelse.dk

What documents you need to upload depends on your educational background and personal situation.

What you need

Start early

Check what kind of documentation you need to apply well in advance of the application deadline 15 March at 12 noon (CET). Some forms of documentation may take some time to obtain, and maybe you will need to have your documentation translated.

Documentation for non-EU citizens

When applying for admission you must document your educational qualifications by uploading diplomas and transcripts of grades.

Your qualifications must be equivalent to Danish upper secondary education.

Documentation for EU/EEA-citizenz:

When applying for admission use the link below to find your country. Each country has a overview of which documents are required.

When you apply, you have to document your English language proficiency, and you also have to document your Danish language proficiency if you apply for a programme that is taught in Danish.

How to document your language proficiency depends on your background.

You must upload documentation of your citizenship, such as:

  • a passport
  • a national ID card

If you live in Denmark, you must also upload a copy of your Danish residence permit, and the decision letter from the Danish Immigrant Service.

Depending on your situation, you may also need to upload:

  • pre-assessment of your degree if you have requested one.
  • documentation of exemption, if applicable.

How you do it

When you upload your documents

You upload your documentation as part of your application.

You apply for a bachelor’s programme at SDU through the national application system optagelse.dk. You upload the documentation when you apply.

The required documentation includes:

  • educational qualifications
  • documentation of language proficiency
  • proof of identity
  • any additional documents relevant to your situation

The application deadline for international applicants  is 15 March at 12 noon (CET).

You must sign your application, applications without signed signature pages will not be considered.

Sign and submit signature pages

Signature pages are generated for each programme you apply to.

You must print, sign and scan the signature pages and send them via email to bacheloradmission@sdu.dk. SDU registers your signed signature pages to your application in the application system.

The signed signature pages must be sent before the application deadline 15 March.

Danish MitID

If you have a Danish MitID, you can sign your documents electronically in the application process, and you do not have to print and sign the papers.

You must apply by 15 March even if you graduate from your upper secondary education or supplementary courses during the summer.

When you apply, you should:

  • state in your application that your exam or course is not yet completed.
  • upload as much documentation as you can.

You must then upload your final diploma or course certificates by 5 July at 12 noon (CET) to optagelse.dk

If you graduate after 5 July or if the documentation is not ready before 5 July, the offer of admission to SDU will be conditional, and you must upload the final documentation to sdu.dk/admission no later than 31 August.

After you have submitted your application, SDU may ask you to upload additional or updated documentation.

You will be notified through SDU's self-service system sdu.dk/admission if extra documentation is needed to process your application. You upload the extra documentation through optagelse.dk.
