Educational background

Admission to a bachelor’s programme at SDU is based on your educational background. To assess your qualifications, two things are at play:

  • whether your qualifying education is recognised as equivalent to a Danish upper secondary education.
  • whether you meet the programme-specific subject requirements.

Both are required for admission.

See how your academic background is assessed

Your qualifying education

Your upper secondary qualifications must be recognised as equivalent to a Danish upper secondary education. The recognition depends on the country and the type of education.

SDU assesses international educations based on national Danish guidelines.

Specific subject requirements

Each bachelor’s programme has specific requirements for passed subjects and levels (A, B or C). The requirements are based on the Danish upper secondary school system.

You can find the specific subject requirements on the pages for the individual bachelor programme.

Applying with an International Baccalaureate?

If you are applying with an International Baccalaureate (IB), you should be aware that the assessment of your qualifications is different compared to the assessment of national upper secondary educations.

Do you want a pre-assessment?

If you are unsure whether your educational background meets the admission requirements, you can request a pre-assessment before applying.

A pre-assessment gives you an indication of whether your qualifications and subjects qualify for admission to a bachelor’s programme at SDU.

You can request a pre-assessment during a specific period of time before the application deadline.
