When you study a degree in engineering at SDU, the teaching is project and problem based. The teaching usually takes place in small groups, where there is a great opportunity for dialogue with the teachers and your fellow students. You will also experience that the teaching can sometimes take place as large lectures with the various engineering degrees.

From the very start of your studies, you will become part of a project group, where you will work on projects that are often based on issues taken from companies.

Work in project groups

In the engineering degrees, you work together with your project group, where you, for example, are given the task of solving complicated technical tasks for Danish or international companies. Here you must consider the environment, economy, technological possibilities - and not least the users of the product.

In the engineering degrees, the content is very varied and consists of project work, class teaching, report presentations and lectures.

In addition to scheduled teaching, you will also spend time preparing for the teaching as well as project work in your project group.

As an engineering student at SDU Sønderborg, a large part of your everyday life will take place in Alsion, where education, culture, research, and business meet under one roof. In addition to the university, Videnspark Alsion, Business Academy Southwest, houses a concert hall and the South Jutland Symphony Orchestra. As a student in Sønderborg, it is easy to get a roof over your head. The city has 6 dormitories, most of which are located close to the educational institutions and the city center.

At the Colleges' Office, you can read more about how you can get a studio apartment and sign up for an apartment. We recommend that you apply for approx. 6 months before the start of studies.

SDU in Sønderborg belongs to the cultural and business domicile Alsion. The building is located on the harbor quay and there is water on all sides. In the city itself you will find cafes, a library, a lively pedestrian street and a rich cultural and nightlife.

In the summer, there are outdoor concerts in Mølleparken (only in Danish), and the rest of the year is full swing in Sønderborghus, which is a regional venue.

The town is located on the island of Als, which is surrounded by a 250 kilometer curved coastline. The beaches invite you to a swim, while the forests and the beautiful natural landscapes provide space for unfoldment, tranquility and depth.

The Youth Culture House in Sønderborg
