The tiny component that could make electric cars and wind turbines more efficient

Most people have never heard of a capacitor. Yet it is found in almost all modern electronics – from electric cars to wind turbines. In his PhD at the University of Southern Denmark in Sønderborg, Jonas Wittmaack developed a new type of capacitor that can reduce energy losses, save weight, and make electronics easier to recycle. He is now working to turn the research into a company.

A new Danish research project aims to transfer technology from electric vehicles to height-adjustable desks and hospital beds. Thankgod Nnaji receives the DSNAME honarary award

Master’s student Thankgod Nnaji from SDU has been honoured by the Danish Society for Naval Architecture and Marine Engineering Foundation for his work on reusing batteries from the world’s first fully electric car ferry. The award means he can travel home to Nigeria for the first time in two years – and brings him closer to his dream of building a future in Denmark.
