QM Research Seminar: Analytically continued Chern-Simons theory on plumbed 3-manifolds

Abstract:

I will present a finite-dimensional model for analytically continued Chern-Simons theory on closed 3-manifolds that are described by plumbing trees. From this model, one can define a collection of topological invariants labeled by pairs of flat connections and valued in formal power series with integral coefficients. The coefficients can be roughly interpreted as counting gradient descent flows with respect to Chern-Simons functional in the space of SL(2,C) connections on the 3-manifold. I will also comment on a possible categorification, which can be interpreted as a finite-dimensional model of Fukaya-Seidel category of Chern-Simons functional on the space of SL(2,C) connections.
