In Kolding, Study Start is organised across all fields of study, with academic and social activities firmly in focus. And the study start festival ‘Kontur’ is a great way to meet fellow students, create networks and get your student life off to a flying start. The festival extends over two days and brings together students from all of the higher education institutions in Kolding.

As a master’s student, you’ll already be familiar with the daily life and routines of being a student, but you will still encounter new demands and new challenges. 

You have a great deal of freedom to plan your study time, but being a student is a full-time job. Even if not every hour of your weekly timetable is allocated to classes, you should expect to spend at least as many hours on self-study and preparation.

Kolding is known for art and design, but there are also many other cultural events as well as theatres and venues where you can catch both upcoming and established artists.

At the Nicolai cultural complex, you’ll find an art cinema, a concert hall, a gallery and workshops where you can unleash your own creativity. In the courtyard, there are outdoor film screenings, free concerts and changing exhibitions throughout the summer.

Kolding is conveniently close to forests and water. Marielund Forest is an extension of the city centre, Kolding River offers many scenic spots and the other nearby forests are gems for mountain bikers – and everyone else.

If you prefer water-based activities, the local beaches and the open-air swimming pool in the fjord provide the perfect setting for a swim, no matter the season.

Kolding may not be a big city, but it has everything you will need as a student. The various educational institutions attract many young people, which gives the city a vibrant atmosphere.

The city centre is laid back and located right next to the large campus area. There’s high street shopping, independent boutiques, cafés, and plenty of student discounts. For a night out, Kolding has something for everyone, whether you’re into traditional pubs, trendy cafes or clubbing.
