The research program General didactics and Disciplinary didactics is an umbrella program for research in general didactics and disciplinary didactics. Focusing on the epoch we are living in, the program explores basic research questions regarding education and subjects. The educational domain is characterized by pressures for change, which set an agenda for teaching, learning and school leadership and for transitions in educational research. In order to understand contemporary conditions, multiple perspectives as well as analytical variation and conceptual richness is required, which could enable productive fields of didactical inquiry, both theoretically and empirically. The research program investigates key questions within General and Disciplinary didactics with regards to content, forms and functions/organisation of teaching. These questions are investigated from various didactic perspectives, highlighting issues of normativity, methodology and theory of science within didactical research.
