Teaching medical students
The department contributes to the teaching of medical students in various course blocks coordinated by other departments—for example, in the cardiology block. It also manages its own two-week teaching block, *The doctor, the law and society*. In this course, students not only learn about forensic methods and ways of thinking, but also about legislation and ethics relevant to medical practice. The department is also active in more public-facing teaching on other health science programmes and regularly gives public lectures, for example through the University Extension (Folkeuniversitetet).
Teaching law students
The Department of Forensic Medicine collaborates with the Department of Law at SDU in mutual teaching activities, drawing on each other’s expertise for relevant topics. For instance, the chapter on health legislation in *Textbook of Forensic Medicine*, 4th edition, was written in collaboration between staff from the Department of Law and the Department of Forensic Medicine.
Teaching biological anthropology
The Anthropology Unit (ADBOU) teaches biological anthropology as an elective subject under the Faculty of Science.
