Aviatronics

INTRODUCTION

The Aviatronics project is a new project, which deals with the development of fixed-wing drones with the end goal being an autonomous high-altitude fixed-wing modular drone, capable of collecting a wide variety of data using different measurement setups.

The first prototype, which we are working on now, will have a focus on developing the competencies in the team with regards to plane manufacturing and development.

CURRENT MISSION

The project's main goal right now is to prepare prototype 0 - Phanes, which involves designing, testing, experimenting, and building the first drone. We will use prototype 0 to build valuable knowledge regarding control, communication, and production of a fixed-wing drone as well as build the teamwork within the group.

This prototype will then create the basis for further development of fixed-wing drones.

The current areas of interest in the development of the prototype are:

  • Electronics
  • 3D printing
  • Aerodynamics and testing
  • EDF and motor Testing
  • Design
  • Project management

OBJECTIVE

The objective of Aviatronics is to create a team of students who can work together to develop and implement solutions regarding fixed-wing drones.

The final goal for the drones is to use them in other projects, where data gathering at specific heights is important. For the current project, Prototype 0, the goal is simply to get a drone which is capable of flight.
