SDU has been awarded the EU’s HR Excellence in Research Award
The University of Southern Denmark has now officially been awarded the EU's HR Excellence in Research Award. This emphasises SDU's commitment to creating the best possible environment for researchers
‘The HR Excellence in Research Award demonstrates that SDU has high quality in our processes and approach to HR. The quality label strengthens SDU’s position in its endeavors to obtain EU funding', says SDU’s Rector, Jens Ringsmose.
Using SDU's HR Award as a seal of quality in EU applications
With the EU certification, SDU can now use the "HR Excellence in Research" logo and the following text in research applications in order to obtain EU funding
SDU is recognised by the European Commission for its commitment to fostering good working conditions and career development for researchers by complying with The European Charter for Researchers and the Code of Conduct for the recruitment of researchers (ECRCC).
The stamp of quality for an attractive research environment
The certification is a seal of quality from the EU, demonstrating that SDU works across faculties and Central Administration to create attractive research environments and good working conditions for researchers. In our action plan for 2025 - 2026, we focus on:
• Transparent policies, procedures and support that ensure high research integrity and ethics
• Open, transparent and merit-based recruitment of talent
• Working conditions: Transparent career paths and career development for researchers
• Relevant and navigable competence development opportunities.
SDU recognised for its strategic and inclusive approach to HR Excellence in Research
The EU evaluation emphasises the importance of SDU's efforts to achieve the HR Excellence in Research Award:
"This inclusive and strategic approach has ensured that the GAP Analysis, HR Strategy, and Action Plan have been developed responsibly and collaboratively, aligning with both institutional priorities and European standards for OTMR."
The assessment emphasises that the certification is the result of a thorough self-assessment (GAP analysis) and an action plan with 15 concrete initiatives, developed through an inclusive process with the active participation of heads of research and researchers at all levels and faculties, technical-administrative staff, lecturers, union representatives for academic staff at SDU and the University’s top management.
Thank you to everyone who contributed to SDU being awarded the HR Excellence Award
We look forward to continuing our collaboration to further develop and enhance the framework and working conditions for researchers at SDU.
