The event is divided in two sessions:
Panel 1: Understanding Urban Resilience
This session aims at understanding urban resilience knowledge gaps on and needs for capacity building and skills development. This session aims at discussing key challenges for urban resilience, and the role of culture and innovation for a resilient transition, focusing specifically on knowledge gaps, capacity building and skills development needs. The presentations and debate will draw on the outcomes of BLOXHUB Summer School on Urban Resilience (September 2019, Copenhagen) for practitioners, policy makers and researchers, and also the highlights from the research ‘Understanding Urban Resilience’ conducted by researchers from University of Southern Denmark, Imperial College London, Massachusetts Institute of Technology and University IUAV of Venice.
Panel 2: Delivering Sustainable and Resilient Infrastructure
This session aims at understanding urban resilience operationalization through nature-based solutions and strategic infrastructures. This session aims at discussing innovation in designing and implementing infrastructure at city and regional scale that is both resilient and sustainable in countries and cities of the developing world, integrating both eco-system services and climate change projections in planning and design. The presentation and debate draw from a review of innovating practices across several regions of the world that integrate both eco-system services and climate change projections in planning and design, conducted in 2019 by the WWF with funding from GIZ, and technical support from Arup conducted.
