Why Choose Operations Management?
How can a company deliver faster, cheaper, better, and more reliably—without compromising quality, sustainability, and the work environment? This question lies at the heart of Operations Management.
As a master’s student at SDU, you will learn how to design, analyze, and optimize the processes that enable companies to operate effectively in practice—from production and logistics to services and digitalization.
You will become part of a strong and diverse academic environment with students from Danish universities as well as international students.
The competencies you gain can be applied broadly—not only in traditional manufacturing companies, but also in the service sector, logistics, and the public sector, including municipalities, government institutions, and healthcare.
You will develop skills that are in high demand both nationally and internationally.
Operations Management is for you if you…
-
want to learn about modern production and supply chain management
-
want to strengthen the competitiveness of Danish companies
-
want to contribute to the development of sustainable manufacturing
-
want to manage complex development projects at strategic, tactical, and operational levels
What Will You Learn?
In the MSc in Operations Management, you will learn how technology—especially digital technologies—can enhance productivity in both production and supply chains. You will also gain insight into how companies can operate more sustainably.
You will learn to analyze and optimize business operations from a holistic perspective, where the interaction between technology, products, people, and organization drives results.
As an operations management engineer, you will develop the ability to design and manage complex development projects at strategic, tactical, and operational levels. You will gain a holistic mindset and learn how to implement solutions that effectively integrate process technologies, production, and supply chain systems in a dynamic and complex market environment.
You will learn, among other things, to:
-
design targeted supply chain solutions based on market and product knowledge
-
develop and implement new production principles and systems
-
work with global, high-tech manufacturing companies focusing on operations management and logistics
Teaching and Learning Approach
The program is closely connected with regional companies. You will work with real-life cases and apply the theories and tools you learn to practical challenges.
You will visit companies and meet industry specialists who demonstrate how theoretical knowledge is applied in practice.
During the first semesters, you will typically work in larger project groups, while later semesters involve smaller groups. The program emphasizes working with current, real-world challenges.
The master’s program lasts two years and consists of four semesters. It builds upon a relevant bachelor’s or diploma engineering degree.
In the third semester, you have the opportunity to study abroad, collaborate with international companies, or write your thesis abroad.
