Life as a Computational Biomedicine student

As a master’s student, you are already familiar with the everyday life and routines of university study, yet you will still encounter new expectations and fresh challenges.

On the master’s programme in Computational Biomedicine, you have considerable freedom to plan your study time; however, being a student remains a full‑time commitment. Even if your weekly schedule is not filled with taught classes, you should expect to spend at least as many hours on independent study and preparation.

Societies and events

As a Computational Biomedicine student, you can join Cellebiologisk Forening Odense (CFO) – a student society for everyone enrolled in programmes connected to the Department of Biochemistry and Molecular Biology. This includes Biomedicine, Biochemistry and Molecular Biology, and Computational Biomedicine.

CFO provides the framework for a strong academic and social community across programmes and year groups. Students meet for study groups, academic talks, social events, and parties. In the society’s common room, students read, prepare for classes, and take breaks – and you will quickly have the chance to get to know your fellow students well.

Shared facilities on campus

Odense is SDU's largest campus with a wide range of facilities that you have access to as a student at SDU.

  • Reading room that is open 24/7
  • Study booths that can be booked for group work
  • Several canteens and cafés
  • One of the world's best outdoor athletics facilities
  • Indoor swimming pool
  • Fitness centre
  • Beach volleyball courts
  • Friday bar
  • Bookshop
  • Bicycle shop
  • Cortex Lab, an innovation and entrepreneurial environment.

Student life in Odense

At SDU Odense you will be part of an ambitious and international study environment in Denmark's third largest city.

More than 40,000 students attend one of Odense's many educational institutions, and the city has everything you could dream of: cafés, shopping, parks, nightlife, festivals and different styles and atmospheres in the various neighbourhoods.

First days as a student at Computational Biomedicine

Study Start is packed with academic and social activities that equip both seasoned and new SDU students for the new challenges of the master’s programme in Computational Biomedicine. Take part in everything you can – it will give you a good foundation for student life, and the relationships you establish during Study Start will see you through the rest of your studies and perhaps also further in your career – and life.

In Odense, you can also participate in the semester start party in September, which kicks off the academic year with a bang.
