Martin Ledstrup is a PhD Fellow at Centre for Contemporary Middle East Studies, University of Southern Denmark. He holds an MA in Middle East Studies from University of Southern Denmark with a yearlong academic exchange, field work and Arabic studies in Sana’a, Yemen. Prior to his PhD, Martin Ledstrup has written extensively on politics in Yemen and the Arabian Peninsula while also working as a science journalist at Videnskab.dk. Through his PhD project National Identity in the UAE: cultural form, existential uncertainty and human life, he is researching into the sociology of nationhood, subjectivity and modernity in the United Arab Emirates. His PhD project is funded by the University of Southern Denmark.
