Philosophy in Schools

About the project Philosophy in Schools

The project Philosophy in the Schools was established in 2017 at University of Southern Denmark and works with research, education and development. Our work builds on interdisciplinary and inter-institutional collaborations and we are interested in Philosophy with Children per se as well as the potential the field has regarding dialogical teaching, inclusion of minorities, language stimulation, well-being and cultivation of philosophical skills. Our long-time goal is to contribute to improving children's learning, character formation and school experience through activities backed by research findings.
Here are some examples of topics of our many development projects: activities and collaborations:

  • Philosophical dialogue and the 17 UN Sustainable Development Goals
  • H.C. Andersen and philosophical dialogue
  • Supporting language acquisition through  philosophical dialogue
  • Philosophical activities for critical thinking in primary education

If you are interested in hearing more about our various projects, you are welcome to contact us at filosofiiskolen@sdu.dk.
