Equity and Diversity in Health and Health Care Utilization

Coordinator:  Jørgen Lauridsen

Any health care effort faces problems of equity and diversity in health outcomes and in providing fair access to health care services. While methods for evaluation of the efficiency of health care programmes have been developed extensively, little is known about how to properly incorporate concerns for equity and fairness into health care resource allocation decisions.

This programme covers the methodological and empirical research at COHERE focusing on inequalities and diversities in health, including fairness in health care rationing, the incorporation of these concerns in the economic evaluation of health care programmes, etc. The research is rooted in microeconomics with links to inter alia medical ethics, public health, social choice, and development studies.
