Assistance for proofreading

As a member of BRIDGE you can get help for scientific publications in English by Claire Gudex. Please read the following details and requirements for proofreading:

Please follow the listed requirements for proofreading:

  • All authors must have read the text in advance and agreed on the structure and content (i.e. Claire's input should be the final step before the manuscript is submitted to the journal)

  • The senior researcher sends the document for text editing

  • It is expected that you have followed the journal’s author guidelines and have checked the format and content of the references.

  • Please note Claire's contribution to editing the final draft of the article - typically under 'Acknowledgments'

  • Claire will usually only read the same article once.

When you have a document for editing:

  • Please send it to Claire directly (cgudex@health.sdu.dk), c.c. to Christine Haarslev Nielsen (chnielsen@health.sdu.dk)

  • Subject: BRIDGE document for editing

  • Note any deadline you have and any particular language requests.

Presentation by Claire:
My name is Claire Gudex, and I work as medical writer at BRIDGE one day a week. My function will be to help you with scientific publications in English, mainly through editing of the final draft before a manuscript is submitted to a journal.

I am a native English speaker from New Zealand and have a medical degree and PhD (Auckland) and Danish medical authorization. Most of my 30-year career has been spent in health services research and in particular measurement of patient outcome and quality of life.

I have been affiliated with SDU and OUH for 15 years, first as researcher in health economics at IST, then sub-investigator for osteoporosis research projects at the Department of Endocrinology, and now as assistant professor at the Department of Clinical Research, where I teach article writing and (scientific) English grammar to PhD students. During my 23 years in Denmark, I have edited many articles and PhD theses in all areas of medicine and the health sciences.

How can I help you?
I can offer text editing of English-language scientific articles and major project applications. My focus will be on correcting grammatical errors, improving the sentence flow, and ensuring that the meaning is clear. Let me know if you also want me to reduce the number of words (I can usually find some unnecessary ones…).

My edits will all be marked as ‘tracked changes’, and I use British English unless I hear otherwise from you.
