Mathias Wullum Nielsen is a sociologist by training and holds a PhD in social science from Aarhus University. Nielsen wrote his PhD dissertation on New and Persistent Gender Inequalities in Danish Academia. His current research focuses on gender in science including the link between gender diversity and research outcomes. Nielsen did his postdoc with Gendered Innovations at Stanford University, and is now an Associate Professor at the University of Copenhagen. He has published numerous papers on the topic of gender in science, including pieces in Nature, Nature Human Behaviour, PNAS, Journal of Informetrics, Nordic Journal of Feminist and Gender Research, Science and Public Policy, Studies in Higher Education and Scandinavian Journal of Educational Research.
