Students and businesses came together
About 300 students from the business and social sciences programmes and 20 local businesses met at University of Southern Denmark to talk about project-oriented studies, student jobs and master’s thesis collaboration.
There was plenty of networking and exchange of ideas and contact information when students from the business and social sciences programmes on Tuesday 2 October got the opportunity to meet representatives from 20 local businesses, including Deloitte, Kompan, the Danish Gambling Authority and the Danish Immigration Service (see the full list below).
Together with Odense Municipality, The Faculty of Business and Social Sciences, held a career event; “Student2Company Match”, which, as the title suggests, involved establishing contact between students and businesses – and getting a dialogue going about the many opportunities for collaboration the parties can offer each other.
For example, the students can bring their skills into play in connection with a project-oriented study or a student job, but there may also be projects and master’s theses to be done – and that can be a source of new knowledge and perspective for the businesses.
Many students and businesses concluded specific cooperation agreements that same day, and other students met a potential employer or learned more about the skills their future employers are seeking.

Project-oriented studies pay off
In 2016, the Danish Evaluation Institute identified that project-oriented studies and relevant student jobs have a positive impact on employment. The analysis showed that graduates from a business and social sciences programme who had a student job or entered a project-oriented study during their study had a 19% better chance of positively impacting their career opportunities. There was also a salary effect of DKK 3,158 per month.
